Four Owls, Women's 4x400 Meter Relay Team Selected For Little East Conference Weekly Honors

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -  Following outstanding performances over the past week, four individual student-athletes and the women's 4x400 meter relay were selected for Little East Conference (LEC) Weekly honors, it was announced today by the league office. 

Men's Lacrosse 

Tyler Reilly garnered the title of Offensive Player of the Week, after powerful performances in two victories for the Owls. A native of Grafton, Mass., Reilly tallied five goals and one assist to total 12 points on the week. Against NESCAC opponent Colby, Reilly scored the first two goals to give Keene State an early edge, before adding three more in the fourth quarter. In the LEC opener against UMass Dartmouth, the senior matched his earlier performance with five goals and one assist, including scoring one goal while the Owls were down a man.  

Women's Lacrosse 

Taylor Farland earned the title of Offensive Player of the Week after career-best performances to lead the Owls to two consecutive victories. From Fiskdale, Mass., the junior racked up 13 points over two games. In their first win of the 2017 campaign against Westfield State, Farland tied her career-best with six points from four goals and two assists, while adding five ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. In the LEC opener versus Western Connecticut, Farland produced a career-high seven-point performance to lift the Owls to their second straight victory with a game-high five goals and two assists. 

After a strong defensive showing in a perfect week for the Owls, Amanda Makar was named the Defensive Player of the Week, as the senior from Yorktown, N.Y., notched eight ground balls and seven caused turnovers. In a non-conference game against Westfield State, Makar picked up six ground and caused four tunovers, before scooping up two ground balls with three caused turnovers versus Western Connecticut State. This is the second LEC weekly honor for Makar. 

From Laconia, N.H., Gabby Smith continued her impressive freshman campaign by tallying six points in a 2-0 week for the Owls, as the freshman earned the title of LEC Rookie of the Week. In a matchup against Westfield State, Smith scored the first goal to come even with the visiting Owls, before tallying a second goal and two helpers. In Smith's first LEC competition, the freshman added two assists en route to a 13-7 KSC win over Westestern Connecticut State. This is Smith's second LEC Rookie of the Week honor. 

Women's Track and Field 

The 4x400 meter relay team was named the LEC Relay Team of the Week, after defeating host Tufts by 1.18 seconds to claim first place at the Snowflake Classic. The combination of senior Katelyn Terry, senior Lindsey Terry, sophomore Brittany Gravellese and freshman Nicole De Almeida topped the competition with a time of 4:08.16.
