PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Juniors Hunter Arnold and Mathew Howe of the Keene State men's lacrosse program received Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors for their impressive performances in the final two LEC regular season contests, it was announced today by the league office. The Owls finished off the regular season with a perfect 7-0 record in LEC play for the fifth straight year.
Arnold, from Boxborough, Mass., was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week, after racking up 10 points with eight goals and two assists in two games on the front line for the Owls' league-leading offense. In a matchup against Western Connecticut State, the junior tied his season high with a six-point performance from four goals and two helpers, before finding the back of the net four times in the regular season finale against Eastern Connecticut State. Arnold and the Owls have beaten every LEC team this season by at least a nine-goal margin.
Howe, a native of Bedford, N.H., was tabbed the LEC Goalkeeper of the Week for his performances between the pipes against Western Connecticut State and Eastern Connecticut State. In 45 minutes of action against the Colonials, the junior made five saves, before registering nine stops against the Warriors in just under 48 minutes of play. Howe finishes the regular season with an average of just four goals against in conference games.
The top-seeded Owls will begin the search for their fourth-consecutive LEC title on Thursday, May 4th at 6:00 p.m. for the semifinal round against #4 Eastern Connecticut State/#5 Southern Maine at the Owl Athletic Complex.
