KEENE, N.H.--Keene State College Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Kristene Kelly has announced that Debbie Wood, MS, ATC, CES, has been promoted to Head Athletic Trainer. Wood has been on staff as an Athletic Trainer since August 2016, and takes over for Bob Merrow, who retired at the end of May after 32 years of service to the college.
"I am excited that Deb has agreed to become our head athletic trainer at Keene State College. Replacing longtime head athletic trainer Bob Merrow was no easy feat and I couldn't think of anyone else to step into this very important role," said Kelly. "It was important to me to find someone who could keep the tradition of excellent healthcare services Bob worked so hard to build over the last three decades and we've found that in Deb."
"I am grateful for the administration's confidence in me. I look forward to the opportunity to lead our Athletic Training staff in continuing to improve the healthcare services that we provide to the student-athletes at Keene State College." said Wood.
Before joining KSC, Wood was an Athletic Trainer at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, N.H., and prior to that, an Athletic Trainer at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
Wood earned a bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from the University of New Hampshire, and a master's in Athletic Training from Plymouth State University. She also has a Graduate Certificate in Personal Approaches to Transformation and Healing from PSU.
"I am looking forward to seeing the great work to come from our athletic training department under Deb's leadership and guidance," added Kelly.
