Keene State Upcoming Schedule: April 29-May 5

KEENE, N.H. - It is playoff time for two Keene State College spring athletic teams this week, while one other's postseason fate is in limbo, and the track and field teams will travel to the New England Division III Championships as the end of the school year quickly approaches.

Softball

KSC softball wraps up their regular season schedule on Monday, April 29 at Westfield State University with a non-conference doubleheader that begins at 1:30 p.m.  Perhaps more importantly, the Owls will also be scoreboard watching all afternoon, as they need UMass Dartmouth to sweep Western Connecticut State University in order to qualify for the Little East Conference tournament, which runs May 2 through May 4 at the site of the No. 1 seed.  UMD needs one win over WCSU to clinch the league's top overall seed and hosting privileges.  The doubleheader between the Corsairs and Colonials begins at 3:00 p.m. in North Dartmouth, Mass.

Baseball

Baseball wraps up the 2019 season with four games in four days, beginning with a visit to Plymouth State University on Tuesday, April 30 for a 3:30 p.m. start.  A visit to Middlebury College comes the next day, with first pitch coming at 4:00 p.m., and the Owls close out the season with a home Senior Day doubleheader against Western Connecticut State University on Friday, May 3 starting at 12:00 p.m.  Keene State will honor Brandon Heath, Connor Johnson, Connor Longley, David Sevigny, Mac Struthers, John Tarascio, and Bobby Baril for their contributions to the program that day.

Women's Lacrosse

Keene State will look for their sixth Little East tournament title this week, and that journey begins with a quarterfinal home game against Eastern Connecticut State University on Tuesday, April 30 at 6:00 p.m.  The fourth-seeded Owls and fifth-seeded Warriors are familiar with each other, as the two teams just played last Saturday, a 19-9 KSC win in Mansfield, Conn. that saw seven different Owls score multiple goals.  Should Keene State, who has won LEC titles in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016, move on, they will travel to Plymouth, N.H. to take on top-seeded Plymouth State in the semifinals on Friday.

Outdoor Track and Field

The men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will head to Williamstown, Mass. for the New England Division III Championships on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and May 4.  The women's team recently finished second at the Little East Conference/Alliance Championships and the men fifth, with KSC taking home eight events total and setting three new school records in the process.

Men's Lacrosse

After winning the Little East regular season for the seventh consecutive year, completing an undefeated conference slate while doing so, men's lacrosse will host the Little East tournament semifinals and finals this weekend.  The semifinals will take place on Friday, May 3, with Keene State taking on the winner of Eastern Connecticut and UMass Dartmouth at 4:00 p.m.  The other matchup will see Plymouth State take on the victor between Western Connecticut and UMass Boston at 7:00 p.m.  In the regular season, KSC beat UMD 19-10 on March 30 in Keene and took down ECSU 19-3 in the very next game on April 3.  The championship game will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 4.  The Owls are in search of their 10th conference title and sixth in a row.
