2011-12 Keene State Highlights and Honors
KEENE, N.H. 6/18/12 - The 2011-12 season proved to be a banner year for the Keene State College athletic program. Check out some of the numerous highlights and honors.
- Represented in 11 NCAA Tournaments; four teams (field hockey, baseball, softball, and women’s lacrosse) and seven individuals (men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s swimming, women’s indoor track, men’s and women’s outdoor track).
- Three ECAC New England Tournament teams (women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, and women’s basketball).
- Four Little East Conference tournament champions (women’s cross country- 12th consecutive title, field hockey, women’s swimming – sixth straight crown, women’s lacrosse – second straight title)
- Two LEC regular season champions (women’s soccer, field hockey)
- Captured LEC’s Commissioner’s Cup – 12th consecutive year
- Captured LEC President’s Cup (Academics)
- Scott Douglas receives LEC Gold Ball Award for scoring the most goals in the conference
- Three All-Americas in three sports: Paige Mills (cross country), Drew Ledwith (men’s swimming) and Glenn Guilmette (men’s outdoor track);
- 43 All-New England/All-Region athletes
- 84 All-Little East athletes
- 10 LEC players/rookies of the year honors: Women’s Soccer: Megan Dempsey (defensive player of the year); Field Hockey: Elizabeth Coffin (offensive player of the year), Kerry Howe (defensive player of the year), Caitlin Davino-Draper (rookie of the year); Men’s Cross Country: Ken Hoyt (runner of the year); Women’s Cross Country: Paige Mills (runner of the year); Women’s Swimming: Jillian Whitaker (swimmer of the year), Diana Pimer (rookie swimmer of the year); Women’s Indoor Track: Janel Haggerty (field athlete of the year); Glenn Guilmette (outdoor track field athlete of the year);
- Four LEC coaches of the year honors: Ron Butcher (men’s soccer); Denise Lyons (women’s soccer); Amy Watson (field hockey), Jack Fabian (women’s swimming);
- 96 LEC All-Academic team
- Two District Academic All-Americas: Austin Harris (men’s at-large), Kyle Morrill (baseball);
- Team Academic Honors: Women’s Cross Country (USTFCCCA); Women’s Soccer (NSCAA); Field Hockey (NFHCA); Women’s Basketball (WBCA);
- Sixteen players named to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI /National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Collegiate National Academic Squad England Baseball
