Important Update: Keene State Athletics and COVID-19 (Updated March 18, 8:30 pm)

KEENE, N.H.--Keene State College and the Department of Athletics are closely monitoring all developments regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. As you know, this is an unprecedented and rapidly changing situation. The Department of Athletics is following all guidelines and precautions set forth by the Keene State College administration, the Campus Pandemic Response Team and state leaders.

For more information, please visit this webpage: https://www.keene.edu/office/wellnesscenter/info-on-coronavirus/

The college will be on Spring Break from March 16-22 and remote instruction for all classes will be initiated beginning on March 23.   All students are asked not to return to campus for the remainder of the semester.   As a result, all spring contests and practices in both the traditional and non-traditional seasons have been canceled.  More information will be forthcoming for student-athletes.

On Tuesday, March 17, the Little East Conference president's council unanimously voted to cancel all LEC regular season and postseason competition and championships for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year in response to the spread and uncertainties related to COVID-19.  This decision follows the announcement of the NCAA to cancel all spring sport championships in 2020.  Teams that are directly affected are baseball, softball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, and outdoor track and field.

The NCAA has issued eligibility waivers for all spring sport student athletes, granting back a season of eligibility and a semester of participation.   For specific questions on eligibility, please contact Abe Osheyack at Abe.Osheyack@keene.edu.

Keene State College and the Department of Athletics continue to monitor the developments and reevaluate policies and protocols as new information becomes available in the coming days and weeks.
