Six Owls Earn LEC Honors

KEENE, N.H. 2/2/09 - Six Keene State student athletes were honored by the Little East Conference on Monday.

Women's Swimmer of the Week
Kristine Trutor (Holden, Mass.), Junior, Keene State College

In her lone meet of the week, Trutor captured three individual events against Gordon College. The product of Holden, Mass. won the 50 back (29.00), 50 free (26.86), and the 200 I.M. (2:20.72) as the Owls posted the dual-meet victory.

Women's Rookie Swimmer of the Week
Jilllian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College

Whitaker helped Keene State set a school record in the 800 freestyle relay, touching in a 8:03.44 against Gordon College. The previous record of 8:06.83 was set in 2004. The Gilford, N.H. native also won the 50 breastroke (32.09) and the 100 I.M. (1:03.67).

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Christina Bourbeau (Manchester, N.H.), Junior, Keene State College

At the Dartmouth Track Classic on Saturday, Bourbeau placed second in the pole vault (10'-6.00"). She was also a member of the KSC 4x400 relay team which placed fourth (4:14.61).

Women's Rookie Track Athlete of the Week                                                                 Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.), Freshman, Keene State College

Walsh placed third in the 1,000 (3:22.96) and 12th in the mile (5:40.21) at the Dartmouth Classic on Saturday.

Men's Rookie Track Athlete of the Week
Matt Norton (Claremont, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College

At the Dartmouth track Classic, Norton placed 8th in the 500 (1:09.68) and was a member of the Owl 4x200 relay team that set a school record (1:35.96) with its third place finish.

Men's Basketball - Honor Roll                                                                                               Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.), Senior, Keene State College

Kathan averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 assists in the Owls' 1-1 week.  He had 21 points and 14 rebounds in a 73-63 victory over Eastern Conn.
