Little East Honors Four Owls

KEENE, N.H. 2/9/09 - The Little East Conference honored the following four Keene State student athletes on Monday.

Women's Swimmer of the Week
Jackie Foster (Bedford, N.H.), Junior, Keene State College

Foster posted a NCAA provisional qualifying mark and Keene State College record at the New England Invitational meet, hosted by Boston College on Saturday. The Bedford, N.H. product won the 1,650-yard race in a time of 17 minutes and 35.93 seconds. She also broke another Owl record in the 1,000 freestyle, touching in at 10:35.93.

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Craig McPherson (Derry, N.H.), Sophomore, Keene State College

MacPherson captured the 800-meter race at the Tufts Invitational this past weekend, clocking an NCAA championship provisional qualifying time (1:54.12). He was also a member of the Owls' 4x400 team that placed fourth (3:30.92).

Women's  Rookie Track Athlete of the Week                                                                  Sarah Titus (Derry, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College

Titus finished fourth in the 800-meter race (2:24.97) at the Tufts Invitational on Saturday.

Men's Basketball - Honor Roll                                                                                            Tyler Kathan (Ludlow, Vt.), Senior, Keene State College

In Saturday's 89-66 loss to 17th ranked  UMass-Dartmouth, Kathan scored 30 points and pulled down nine rebounds.  The senior forward from Ludlow, Vt., shot 67% from the field (12-for-18) and 71% from behind the arc (5-for-7) in the game.  He also had an assist and three steals.
