Around The Horn: KSC Baseball In Summer Leagues

KEENE, N.H.--Baseball is an ever-present throughout the summer, and the rosters of various collegiate summer leagues are dotted with Keene State College baseball players.

New England Collegiate Baseball League

Rising junior Connor Longley is batting .318 in nine games for the Valley Blue Sox, based out of Holyoke, Mass.  The First Team All-LEC and Third Team All-Region outfielder is currently 7-for-22 this season with a double and three RBI, including knocking in a pair of runs in a 9-8 loss to the Keene Swampbats on June 28.  

Rising senior Noah Rizio has made one appearance for the Swampbats, tossing 1.3 of an inning of scoreless relief against the Vermont Lake Monsters on July 7.

Tidewater Summer League

Rising sophomores Andrew Houde, Brian Vieira, Tom Meucci, and Sam Czel are all playing for the Virginia Beach Waves, in Virginia Beach, Va.  Statistics were not immediately available, however, Houde and Meucci were both selected for the league All-Star game.

New York Collegiate Baseball League

Rising junior Devin Springfield is batting .394 in 22 games for the Rome Generals in Rome, N.Y.  Springfield is hitting 28-for-71 with seven doubles, two triples, and 11 RBI with nine walks, including a 4-for-4 performance with a double, a triple, three RBI, and two runs scored in a 1-02 win against the Cortland Crush.  Springfield was also chosen to start in the NYCBL All-Star game, which takes place on July 13.

Futures Collegiate Baseball League

Rising junior catcher Nate Rossi is hitting .219 in 18 games for the North Shore Navigators out of Lynn, Mass.  Rossi has hit 7-for-32 this summer, driving four runs, with a 2-for-5 showing, with an RBI and a walk against the Seacoast Mavericks on June 23.

Connecticut Colleague Baseball League

Rising junior J.P Tarascio is playing for the West Hartford Thunder.  Statistics are not immediately available for the Second Team All-LEC Designated Hitter.

Greater Northeaste Collegiate Baseball League

Rising sophomores Connor Walsh and Mike Bailey are both playing for the Nor'Easters.  Walsh is batting .276 with a double and four RBI through seven games, while Bailey has doubled twice and scored twice, batting .192.
