KEENE, N.H.--Keene State College Director of Athletics and Recreation Dr. Kristene Kelly has announced that Tiffany Leonard has been appointed as the head coach of the cheerleading program.
"We are pleased to announce that Tiffany Leonard has been hired as our head cheerleading coach," said Kelly. "She has a very strong cheer background and her enthusiasm and excitement for the sport will bode well as she takes over our program."
Since August 2016, Leonard has served as the assistant cheerleading coach at Keene High School, where she helped rebuild the program from a non-competitive team to placing sixth in the Fall Division II State competition, and fifth at the Astroblast Invitational.
She has also worked as the head coach of the Keene Knights Youth Spirit Cheer, piloting them to a second place state finish in 2014 and state championships in 2015 and 2016. Her Keene Knight teams also placed second in New England and third nationally in 2016.
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to breathe new life into the cheerleading program here at Keene State," said Leonard. "I am excited to get started building a program that is fun, innovative, competitive, and to grow it into something our community can look to and be proud of. Go Owls!"
"Keene is Tiffany's hometown which provides her with many contacts in the city, and more specifically in the youth and high school cheerleading communities," added Kelly. "We welcome Tiffany to Keene State College!"
