Four Owls Recognized by the Little East

'KEENE, N.H. 10/30/06 - Four Keene State College athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference on Monday.

 

 

Karen Robinson (Barre, Mass.) was named field hockey rookie of the week, Cal Mintz (Wesport, Conn.) was selected as men's soccer co-defensive player of the week, and Breanne Lucey (Keene, N.H.) and Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) were honored as female co-runners of the week.

 

 

In two games this week, Robinson recorded four points in a pair of Keene State wins. On Oct. 29, she registered a marker and dished out an assist for three points as the Owls' capped off a perfect conference circuit with a victory over Salem State. Earlier in the week, Robinson handed out a helper in a victory over visiting St. Joseph's (Me). She is second on the team in assists (seven), while third in goals (six) and points (19).

 

 

On Oct. 25, Mintz made a season-high 12 saves to lead Keene State to a 2-0 shutout victory over Middlebury. It was his third shutout of the campaign. Mintz ranks among the conference leaders in goals against average (2nd, 0.81) and save percentage (3rd, .816). 

 

 

Lucey and Adams both crossed the finish line in a time of 19:43 to share the Little East Conference/Alliance Championships, held at Keene State College. Lucey has

been named the Little East Conference Runner of the Week four times, while Adams has won the award twice. The top-five finishers were all from Keene State as the

Owls' cruised to the team title with 15 overall points, defeating Westfield State by 74 points.
