PAWTUCKET, R.I. - For the second time this season, freshman center James Anozie of the Keene State men's basketball program was recognized as the Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Week, the league announced today.
In a 1-1 week for the Owls, Anozie averaged 17.0 points per game and 8.0 rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 66.7 percent (14-21) from the field. In a matchup against Trinity, Anozie tied his career-high with 19 points and went 7-of-9 from the field with seven rebounds. In a LEC victory over Rhode Island College, the rookie recorded 15 points and pulled down a team-high and career-tying nine rebounds, while adding one block for Keene State.
Anozie ranks second on the team in points (11.7) and third in rebounds (4.5).
Anozie and the Owls will look to remain perfect in conference play when they travel to Western Connecticut State on Wednesday, January 10th for an early 4:00 p.m. tip-off.
