Men's Basketball Picked To Finish First In LEC Preseason Poll

PAWTUCKET, R.I.--The Keene State College men's basketball team was picked to finish first in a preseason poll of the league's coaches, it was announced today.

The Owls received 60 points and four first place votes to tie with Eastern Connecticut State at the top of the poll.  The Warriors also received 60 points, with the other five first place nods.

UMass Boston (43 points) and Western Connecticut State (40 points) rounded out the top half by finishing third and fourth, respectively.

The Owls, who have played in the last four LEC championship games, were also picked to finish first in 1997, 1998 and 2012.   KSC returns First Team All-LEC senior guard Ty Nichols (20.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 5.0 apg), Second Team All-LEC sophomore center James Anozie (12.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg), sophomore guard Miguel Prieto (10.6 ppg, 3.1 apg), as well as sophomore guards Sidi Diallo (6.1 ppg) and DeVon Beasley (6.6 ppg).  KSC opens the 2018-19 season against Salem State in Spaulding Gym on November 10 at 5:30 p.m.
