AMHERST, Mass.--Recent Keene State College graduate Paul Beling was named as an Academic All-Region recipient by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, it was announced today.

A midfielder from Holliston, Mass., Beling graduated with a 3.76 GPA in elementary education, and was named as the Keene State Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as the senior with the highest grade point average.  On the field, Beling finished his career with 64 goals and 46 assists for 110 points, with 54 ground balls and 14 caused turnovers.  He was named to the Second Team All-Little East Conference as a sophomore and junior, and to the First Team All-LEC as a senior.  The Owls won LEC regular season and tournament championships all four of his seasons, reaching the NCAA tournament four times, including two trips to the second round.

Forty-six student-athletes from 20 different Division III institutions met the criteria, which required that nominees must have senior standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale, and be a significant enough player that he was nominated for at least All-Conference selection.
