KEENE, N.H. - Seniors William Salta and Conor Leahy were selected for the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League (NEISL) All-Star Game, which took place on Sunday, November 26th at Brandeis University.
Salta, from Laconia, N.H., was chosen as a captain and scored in the 2-2 draw, while Leahy, from Beverly, Mass., saw significant minutes in various positions.
A 2017 First Team All-Conference selection and a 2016 Second Team All-Conference honoree, Salta was impressive during his second season with the Owls. After beginning the season on defense, Salta moved into the forward position and made an immediate impact. A dynamic striker, Salta finished the season tied for a team-high six goals and added two assists, while scoring in five-straight games. In a matchup against Western New England, the senior forward tallied a career-high three points with one goal and one assist. A two-year starter, Salta finished his career with six goals and four assists.
A four-year starter with 59 appearances for the Owls, Leahy was stalwart in the midfield with career numbers of 14 goals and 10 assists, including four game-winning strikes and seven goals during his first year. In his final season with the Owls, Leahy was recognized as a Second Team All-Conference honoree. An essential piece of the midfield, the senior started in 13 of the 14 games he appeared in, while scoring one goal against Roger Williams with one assist against Wheaton.
Salta and Leahy led Keene State to their first Little East Conference (LEC) Tournament berth for the first time since 2014.
