KEENE, N.H.--The 2019 Keene State College men's soccer schedule has been released, and with it, a chance to see the Owls play at home eight times this season. Keene State will face off against a pair of NCAA tournament teams from 2018, including Tufts University, winners of three of the last five national championships. Keene State is seeking its first Little East Conference tournament championship and NCAA appearance since 2010.
The Owls will play at home eight times this season, beginning with a matchup with Tufts on September 11. Conference play begins on September 21 with a visit from Rhode Island College, where the KSC soccer field will be renamed in honor of longtime coach Dr. Ron Butcher.
Non-league games against Clark (September 25) and Bowdoin (September 29), follow. In October, the Owls have four home contests, including three key LEC games. Visits from Castleton University (October 2), Plymouth State (October 16) are ahead of a non-conference tilt against MCLA. The home schedule concludes on October 26 against UMass Boston.
The Owls will be away from home 10 times this season, including the first three games of the year. KSC starts the year at the Salem State Soccer Classic on August 30-31. The Owls begin against the host Vikings on August 30, followed by a matchup with Pine Manor College on August 31.
Keene State then travels to Wheaton (MA) on September 14, and also has road games in September on September 14 against Elms College and September 23 against Lasell College. In October, the Owls head to Western Connecticut State University on October 5, in a rematch of the 2018 LEC Championship game, won by the Colonials in overtime.
Road contests continue on October 9 (RPI), Eastern Connecticut State (October 12), and UMass Dartmouth (October 19), as well as a matchup with Worcester State (October 29) and the regular season finale at Southern Maine on November 2.
For the third year in a row, the Little East Conference tournament will have a different look. Six teams qualify, with the top two seeds receiving byes into the semifinals. Quarterfinal matchups will be hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds on Tuesday, November 5. The advancing teams will head to the semifinals, hosted by the top two seeds on Thursday, November 7. The highest remaining seed will host the final on Saturday, November 9, where the winner will receive the LEC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The first and second rounds will be on November 16-17 at campus sites throughout the country.
