Owls Win Eight Events at Springfield Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Battling windy and rainy conditions, the Keene State College track and field team competed at the non-scoring Springfield College Invitational on Saturday.

Women's Highlights

Lynne Hebert won the 800 meters in 2:25.15, while Laura Dawson was in third place in the same event in 2:30.21.    Skyler Gauthier won the 100 hurdles in 16.00 seconds flat, nipping the Springfield duo of Elizabeth Herlihy and Katherine Strain by .01 seconds.  

Keene State went 2-3-4 in the 400 meter hurdles, with Nicole De Almeida in second in 1:07.20, Skyler Gauthier in third in 1:08.00, and Alexis Gauthier in fourth in 1:11.00.

Alana Olendorf took home first place in the steeplechase, in 12:30.88.  Erin McNemar was tied for fourth place in the high jump at 1.50 meters.  Alexis Gauthier was third in the long jump at 5.03 meters, with Skyler Gauthier in fourth at 5.01 meters.

Shannon Parks was seventh in the shot put at 10.86 meters, just ahead of Naomi Murzin, who was in eighth at 10.67 meters.  Parks was also fifth in the discus at 34.59 meters, and seventh in the hammer at 38.25 meters.  Taylor Bisaillon took third in the javelin at 33.24 meters, with Skyler Gauthier in seventh at 24.54 meters.

De Almeida, Brittany Gravallese, Dawson, and Hebert comprised the winning 4x400 meter relay team in 4:18.28.

Men's Highlights

Angel Ramirez was second in the 100 meters in 11.50 and seventh in the 200 meters in 23.52, and Brandon Castor added an eighth place finish in the 400 meter dash in 52.35.  

Alex Medina won the 400 hurdles in 58.52, while Robby St. Laurent crossed the line first in the steeplechase in 10:28.89.  Charlie Senior was seventh in the shot put at 10.45 meters and sixth in the discus at 34.32 meters.  Joey Fodor won the javelin for the second straight week at 54.13 meters, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Jared Hannon, Brandon Castor, Anthony Jennings, and Alex Medina won in 3:32.16.
