KEENE, N.H. 5/17/11 - The Little East Conference honored the following four Keene State College track and field athletes on Tuesday:
Male Track Athlete of the Week
Eric MacKnight (Newtown, Conn.), Senior, Keene State College
MacKnight turned in a top-five performance at the New England Open Championships this past weekend. The Newtown, Conn. product covered the 10-kilometer course in a time of 31 minutes, 28.77 seconds to place fifth overall.
Male Field Athlete of the Week
Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.), Senior, Keene State College
At the New England Open Track and Field Championships at Southern Connecticut, Kolacz placed second in a field of 20 competitors in the hammer. The senior from Brentwood, N.H. recorded an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying distance with a toss of 60.91 meters. He also finished 15th in the discus (42.48m).
Female Track Athlete of the Week
Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.), Senior, Keene State College
Knoblock improved her national provisional qualifying time at the New England Open Championships hosted by Southern Connecticut this past weekend. The native of Plymouth, Mass. lowered her time by almost three seconds—four minutes, 31. 95 seconds—to place third overall. The Owls finished 18th in the overall team standings.
Female Rookie Field Athlete of the Week
Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.), Freshman, Keene State College
Huckins recorded a top-10 finish in the javelin at the New England Open Championship this past weekend. The Westmoreland, N.H. product hurled the javelin 37.54 meters to finish fourth among Division III competitors and eighth overall.
