PROVIDENCE, R.I.--Junior Brittany Gravallese was the Little East Conference champion in the 800 meter run as the Keene State College track and field teams competed at the Little East Conference championships at the Providence Career and Technical Center.
Both the men's and women's teams finished sixth overall.
Gravallese took the 800 meters in 2:23.09, edging past Southern Maine's Haley Bantz by .23 seconds. She became the first KSC champion in the 800 meters since Katelyn Terry in 2014, and joins Mary Proulx (2000, 2001), Shannon O'Brien (2002), Laurie Yorgensen (2003, 2004), Kristen Gavin (2005, 2006), Melissa Pelletier (2007), Maggie Fitter (2011), and Lauren Markoe (2013) in winning the event.
Nicole De Almeida was second in the 400 meter dash in 1:02.56, while Taylor Bisaillon was fourth in the 600 meters in 1:44.68. Laura Dawson was fifth in the 1,000 meter run in 3:17.22, just ahead of Lynne Hebert in 3:19.27. Hebert added a second place finish in the mile in 5:35.51. De Almeida, Gravallese, Bisaillon and Hebert also made up the 4x400 meter relay that finished second in 4:18.39. Gravallese was also a member of the 4x800 meter relay team that finished third in 10:43.93, along with Dawson, Mila Barrera, and Lauren Perkowski.
Bisallon added a third place nod in the shot put, with a throw of 10.80 meters.
Tyler DeChane was fifth in the 800 meters in 2:03.25, while Gavin Thomas had a second place finish in the 5,000 meters, in 16:22.59, just ahead of Cam Giordano, who finished the 5,000 in 16:27.58, and Ben MacDonald was fifth in 16:58.57.
