KEENE, N.H.--Sophomore Iid Sheikh-Yusuf and senior Phil Parent both posted top 10 finishes to lead the Keene State College men's cross country team to a second place finish at the Little East Conference cross country championships at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.
Sheikh-Yusuf was fourth overall, finishing the five mile course in 25:53. Parent finished in ninth place, coming across the line in 26:12. Cam Giordano was in 12th place in 26:26, followed by Ian Connell in 16th place in 27:14 and Matt Dudley in 17th place in 27:15. Gavin Thomas posted a 21st place finish in 27:35, while Tyler DeChane was in 25th place in 27:58.
Other Keene State runners included Ben MacDonald (29th place, 28:11) and Zach Coburn (38th place, 29:11). The University of Southern Maine placed four runners in the top 10 to claim the team title, while Plymouth State's Sam Brunnette won individual medalist honors in 24:43.
It was the fourth All-LEC honor of his career for Parent, who was LEC Rookie of the Year and individual champion in 2014, and LEC Runner of the Year in 2015. It was the second straight All-LEC award for Sheikh-Yusuf.
The Owls will continue the season on November 11 at the NCAA Regional Race, hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
