KEENE, N.H.--Keene State College outscored Westfield State University 5-1 in the second half en route to a 12-5 win in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Thursday night at Owl Athletic Complex.
Blair Smith paced Westfield State with two goals.
Westfield State had opened the scoring on Smith's unassisted goal, but consecutive strikes from Witherbee put Keene State back in front with 20:31 on the clock. Chadnick's first goal put KSC up 3-1, only to see Westfield State tie up the contest as Stephanie Lenhardt set up Meghan O'Brien and Lee Meskevich for back to back tallies that knotted the game at three with 16:18 remaining.
Nolan fed Chadnick for a goal that put KSC back in front, and Emilee Silegy and Witherbee scored around a goal from WSU's Caroline Smart for a 7-4 Keene State lead at the break.
Smith's second goal for the game 1:11 into the second half pulled Westfield State back within two, but the Owls put the game away with five straight over the rest of the half. Nolan assisted on Chadnick's goal, then scored one of her own off a Julie Trombetta pass. Trombetta got in on the action with an unassisted goal with 13:24 to play, and Nolan and Polly Grey closed out the scoring.
Erin Taylor made nine saves for KSC, while counterpart Mimi Khampaeng made six for Westfield State.
Keene State returns to Little East Conference action, traveling to Rhode Island College for a 1 p.m. start on April 12. Westfield State also returns to conference play, hosting Worcester State University in a MASCAC contest that begins at 6 p.m.
