Offensive Outburst Boosts Owls Past Pilgrims, 20-5

KEENE, N.H.--12 different players registered a point as the Keene State College women's lacrosse team posted a 20-5 win over New England College on Thursday night.

Ashley Borjeson, Kylie Coppola, and Eliza Witherbee each had hat-tricks, while Kelly Chadnick had five goals.  Kaitlin Nolan had two goals and two assists, and Jenna Bellano had one goal and three helpers.  Gretchen Faulstich, Morgan Markley, and Maureen Moran also got on the scoresheet with goals, while Meghan Malloy and Julie Trombetta each dished out one assist.

Erin Taylor played 16:15 in net for KSC and made two saves.  She was relieved by Libby Curran, who also made two stops, and Alison Argiro played the final 18:14 and stopped one NEC shot.

KSC came at the Pilgrims hard and fast, with Nolan scoring 53 seconds into the game.  Borjeson made it 2-0 two minutes later.  Allison Granata got one back for NEC, but KSC unleashed a string of eight straight goals.  Chadnick had the first two, followed by one from Bellano and three in a row for Witherbee.  Chadnick and Borjeson got one more each before Granata pulled the Pilgrims to within 10-2.

Chadnick and Borjeson each scored again before the break to send KSC into halftime up 12-2.

It was more of the same in the second half.  Coppola, Chadnick, and Nolan scored in quick succession to put the Owls up 15-2, and KSC continued to cruise, outscoring New England College 5-3 from that point on.

The Owls will end the regular season by hosting Western Connecticut State on Saturday at noon.  The winner will claim the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Little East Conference tournament.
