INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Keene State College junior attack Taylor Graf broke the school record for assists in a season in 2016 - now, she's a national champion in the statistic.
Graf's 66 assists in 2016 were two more than the nearest Division III competitor - Emily Handrahan of Augustana (Ill.). It was also the second highest total across all three divisions of the NCAA - only Amy Weinberg of Indiana (Pa.) (Division II) had more.
She had at least one assist in every game but three this year, and had eight games of at least five assists, including a season high seven in a 13-8 win over Southern Maine on April 16.
Graf had 16 goals to go with her 66 assists for 82 points, the seventh highest single season total in school history, while her 82 career assists are tied for second all-time heading into her senior year. She was named a Second Team All-LEC Player for the Owls, who won their second consecutive LEC tournament championship this spring and reached the second round of the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.
Graf is the eighth individual to be an NCAA statistical leader in school history, and the first from women's lacrosse.
