PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The Keene State women's lacrosse program was tabbed third in the Little East Conference (LEC) preseason poll, the league office announced today.
The Owls received a total of 27 points for third place, just one point behind Eastern Connecticut State, who finished in second place with 28 points and one first-place vote. The defending conference champion Plymouth State received 36 points and six first-place votes to top the poll.
After reaching her 100th-win milestone last season, head coach Katie Arsenault returns for her tenth campaign to lead the Owls against a full slate of strong conference and non-conference opponents.
Keene State will welcome back First Team All-Conference honoree Taylor Farland, as the senior midfielder finished last season with a team-high 43 goals while adding 16 assists, 54 ground balls, 52 draw controls and forced 25 caused turnovers. The Owls will also return Second Team All-Conference selections in senior midfielder Tori Weinstock (21 goals, 38 ground balls, 28 caused turnovers, 49 draw controls), senior defender Tara Kilderry (56 ground balls, 45 caused turnovers, 14 draw controls) and junior attack Chelsea Lewis (38 goals, 10 assists, 28 draw controls).
The 2018 season begins with a home contest at the Keene State Athletic Complex on Wednesday, February 28th at 4:00 p.m. against MIT.
