Williams Named Player Of The Year.

KEENE, N.H. 10/29/01 - Named Player of the Year, Jessica Williams leads the list of six Keene State College players named to the 2001 Little East Conference Women's soccer all-star team.

Williams, a senior midfielder from Nashua, N.H., leads the Owls in scoring with 13 goals, five assists, and 31 points.

"I'm very surprised, it's a great honor," said Williams, who has four game winning goals. "I got off to a slow start, but things picked up for me as the season went a long. It was my senior season, and I wanted to go out with a bang."

Joining Williams on the first team were senior back Sarah Nordle (Hooksett, N.H.) and freshman goalkeeper Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.).

Nordle, who has two goals and two assists, has been a standout in the Owls' backfield this season while Mason, who has played in every KSC game has posted a 1.02 GAA and 11 shutouts.

Sophomore midfielder Jennifer Ortisi from Allenstown, N.H., Claremont, N.H., native Melissa Bergeron, and Katie Irwin, a senior defender from Windham, N.H., were second team selections.

Ortisi (7-7-21) and Bergeron (7-5-19) are second and third respectively on KSC's scoring list while Irwin, has made her presence felt in the backfield with her aggressive style of play.

Keene State (17-5) will host Anna Maria College in a first round ECAC Tournament game on Wednesday (4 p.m.).
