WARRIORS OVERTAKE OWLS 3-2

MANSFIELD, CONN.  9/25/10 – The Eastern Conn. State University women's soccer team overcame a two goal deficit and scored three goals in the final 20 minutes of play to hand Keene State a tough 3-2 loss in a Little East Conference game played in Mansfield Conn. on Saturday.

Keene State falls to 6-2-2 (1-1 LEC) on the season and suffers its first LEC loss of the season. Eastern Conn. (7-0-1, 2-0-0 LEC) ties its mark set in 2004 for best start of the season.

Freshman Kristen Huckins (Westmoreland, N.H.) gave KSC a 1-0 lead on a goal with under two minutes to play in the first half.  Senior Katie Bradford's (Lebanon, N.H.) seventh goal of the season made it a 2-0 game 10 minutes into the second half.

The Warriors came alive in the final 20 minutes, getting goals from Nicole Leonard, Daniela Marchitto, and Jo-Ann Merheb.  Merhab's game-winner with less than four minutes to play came after she split through three defenders in the box and scored to the far left corner.

KSC junior goalie Meghan Dempsey (East Weymouth, M.A.) finished the game with three saves.  Warrior goalie Theresa Pagnozzi was not credited with a save.

Eastern led in both shots (9-6) and corner kicks (10-3).
