KEENE, N.H.--Throughout the summer months, the Keene State College Department of Athletics and Recreation will be looking back at some of the top moments and milestones of the 2016-17 academic year.
At No. 8, we revisit the Keene State women's soccer team going undefeated at home during the 2017 regular season.
Nine teams visited Owl Athletic Complex this past fall, and nine of them left with a loss. The Owls outscored opponents 37-6 during that stretch, posting three shutouts and scoring four goals or more in six of the nine games.
Colby-Sawyer was the first visitor, and left with a 4-0 shutout courtesy of goals from Sierra Trzepacz, Brittany Tolla, Patricia Norton, and Morgan Kathan. The Owls added further wins in September with a 4-1 triumph over Western Connecticut State University and a 5-1 thumping of Johnson & Wales.
October also opened with a shutout, as Tolla and Katie Silegy scored less than a minute apart, while Kali Santino and Kathan (twice) completed a 5-0 rout of Plymouth State on October 1. The Owls' offensive attack continued four days later, putting five more past Worcester State.
Goals from Silegy, Trzepacz, and Kathan powered the Owls to a 3-1 win over Smith on October 19, before the Owls faced their sternest test thus far. Silegy's goal with 39 seconds left in regulation gave KSC a 1-0 win over Bridgewater State, the closest contest the Owls would play during the win streak. Four first half goals gave KSC another shutout, this one over UMass Dartmouth, before ending the regular season with another goalfest in a 6-2 win over Westfield State.
The Owls open the 2017 season at home, hosting Endicott College on September 2. In all, Keene State plays 10 home contests this coming season.
