Five Owls Earn Weekly LEC Honors

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. 11/7/11 – Five Keene State College student-athletes earned LEC player of the week honors as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Male Runner of the Week
Thomas Paquette (Bolton, Conn.), Junior, Keene State College
Paquette was the first Little East runner to cross the finish line at the 2011 ECAC Division III Cross Country Championships this past Saturday. The Bolton, Conn. product covered the 8-kilometer course at Mount Greylock High School in 26 minutes, 48.22 seconds to place 12th overall in a field of 300 competitors.

Female Runner of the Week
Marie Whitney (Jaffrey, N.H.), Sophomore, Keene State College
Whitney paced Keene State College at the 2011 ECAC Division III Championship this past Saturday in Williamstown, Mass. The Jaffrey, N.H. product covered the 6K championship course in a time of 24 minutes, 56 seconds to lead all Little East runners and 51st overall.

Female Rookie Runner of the Week
Kaley Mientkiewicz (Hanson, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State College
Mientkiewicz was the first Little East rookie to cover the 6K course at the 2011 ECAC Division III Championships this past Saturday. The native of Hanson, Mass. crossed the finish line at 25 minutes, six seconds to place 60th overall.

Swimmer of the Week
Jillian Whitaker (Gilford, N.H.), Senior, Keene State College
Whitaker posted a pair of top-two finishes at the New England Invitational this past weekend. The senior from Guilford, Conn. was the first to touch the wall in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.29), while placing second in the 50 breaststroke (31.01). She was also a member of the victorious 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams.

Rookie Swimmer of the Week
Julie Trodden (Reading, Mass.), Freshman, Keene State College
Competing at the New England Invitational, Trodden won the 1,000 freestyle (11:02.37) and placed third in the 500 freestyle (5:24.74) event. The Reading, Mass. product was also a member of the Owl 400 medley relay that finished second (4:06.34).
