FITCHBURG, MASS.4/5/08 - Keene State men and women track teams combined to win eight events at the Jim Sheehan Memorial Meet at Fitchburg State College on Saturday.
The Owl women won seven events. Laura Kintz (Jaffrey, N.H.) won the 100-dash (13.21), Jennifer Adams (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) won the 1,500 (4:45.05), and Kaley Griffin (Manchester, N.H.) won the 100-hurdles (16.62). Shaylin Deignan (Londonderry, N.H.), Kimber Stannard (Higganum, Conn.), Griffin, and Kintz teamed up to win the 4x100 relay (51.10).
In field events, Crystal Blamy (Walpole, N.H.) won the high jump (5'-03.00"), Bryanna Brown (Nashua, N.H.) won the shot-put (38'-04.00"), and Samantha Hirsh (Holliston, Mass.) won the javelin (123'-05").
Deignan and Stannard placed third (13.40) and fourth (13.50)respectively in the 100-dash. Kintz was second (27.48) and Deignan was third (27.93) in the 200, and Amy Knoblock (Plymouth, Mass.) took third (2:27.17) in the 800 race.
Keene State finished third in the 18-team field with 123 points. Colby claimed the team title with 205 points.
Jared Samuel (Londonderry, N.H.) posted the lone win by the KSC men, a first place finish in the 5,000 (15:12.78). The Owls swept the top three sports in the race with Jeff Trethewey (Merrimack, N.H.) pacing second (15:17.85), and Sean Gavaghan (Monroe, Conn.) finishing third (15:20.45).
Craig MacPherson (Derry, N.H.) placed third in the 1,500 (4:00.54).
In field events, Frank Radlof (Milford, N.H.) was second in the high jump (22'-1.00"), and Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) took second in the discus (141'-06').
Keene State tallied 81 points to finish fourth in the meet. Bates won the team championship with 124.50 points.
The Owls compete next Saturday at UMass-Lowell.
