Walsh, Witherbee Earn LEC Player of the Week Honors

North Dartmouth, Mass. 4/9/12 – Senior Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) and sophomore Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.) each earned Little East Conference player of the week honors, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.), Senior, Keene State College
Walsh qualified for the Eastern College Athletic Conference and New England Open Championships in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this past weekend at the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell. The senior from Bolton, Conn. completed the course in a time of 11 minutes, 17.10 seconds to place fifth.

Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week
Eliza Witherbee (Newburyport, Mass.), Sophomore, Keene State College
Witherbee recorded 11 points, on six goals and five assists, to help Keene State post a 2-0 mark this past week. The sophomore from Newburyport, Mass. registered a season-high six points (3-3) in the win against Colby-Sawyer on April 3. Four days later, Witherbee recorded her fifth hat trick of the season and handed out two helpers as Keene State defeated Little East rival Eastern Connecticut. The victory over the Warriors extended the Owls’ winning streak to five games.
