Owls win a pair at Tufts Invitational


O'Bryant filled up the score sheet with 17 kills, 19 digs, 3 service aces, and 3 blocks against Colby-Sawyer

CAMBRIDGE, MASS.  10/2/09 - The Keene State College women's volleyball team evened its record at 9-9 with a pair of wins at the Sixth Annual Tufts University Volleyball Invitational held at MIT on Friday night.

The Owls defeated SUNY-Potsdam 3-0 (25-21, 25-10, and 25-25) in their opening match.  Sophomore Ellyse Davis (Londonderry, N.H.) led KSC with 10 kills and three blocks.  Sophomore Bridget O'Bryant (Merrimack, N.H.) added 12 kills, and senior Abby Rosen (Andover, Conn.) finished with 19 digs.

After dropping its first game 18-25, Keene State bounced back to win the next three games (25-20, 25-18, and 25-13) to beat Bridgewater State 3-1.  O'Bryant led the Owls offense with 20 kills and Rosen had a strong defensive efort with 18 digs.  Davis had eight kills and three blocks and senior Jordan Pokryfki (Wasilla, Alaska) and junior Jamie Levine (Medfield, Mass.) each had 12 kills. Pokryfki also contributed 39 assists.

Tufts, MIT and Keene State College all went 2-0 during the first night of action at the Invitational.  The Owls will face Tufts and Wellesley College on Saturday.
