BRISTOL, R.I.--The Keene State College volleyball team began 2017 with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-20) win over Bridgewater State University at the Roger Williams University tournament on Friday night.

How it Happened
The Owls made quick work of the Bears, getting 13 kills from senior Rachel Lamica and five service aces from junior Riley Bunker. Freshman setter Bailey Wilson had 24 assists in her first collegiate match.
Lamica hit .286, adding four digs, two service aces, and a block assist. Bunker had a team high 12 digs, while sophomore Olivia Mathieu hit .417 with six kills and 10 digs. Another sophomore, Jennifer Severino hit .500 with four kills and junior Niamh Dodd hit .556 with five kills in nine attempts. The Owls' defense held Bridgewater State to .156 hitting and nine receiving errors.
It marked the first time since the 2013 season that the Owls won their season opener.
- The tournament continues on Saturday, September 2, as the Owls will play Framingham State University at 11 a.m. and Emerson College at 3 p.m..
