PAWTUCKET, R.I.--The Little East Conference office has announced that Rachel Lamica and Riley Bunker, both members of the Keene State College volleyball team, have repeated as LEC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.
Lamica was named LEC Offensive Player of the Week after excelling in five matches for the Owls. The senior outside hitter from Malone, N.Y., totalled 93 kills and hit .347 for the week as the Owls maintained their perfect start to the season at 8-0. She had 24 kills against both Westfield State and Rivier, a total one short of her career high, while adding 18 more against Colby-Sawyer, 13 against New England College, and 14 vs. Plymouth State. She also had a season high 14 digs against both Rivier and Colby-Sawyer. She needs just 10 digs to become the fifth player in school history to record 1,000 for her career.
Bunker picked up LEC Defensive Player of the Week honors after patrolling the KSC backline to five wins. The junior libero from Simi Valley, Calif., racked up 94 digs in five matches, while serving up nine service aces. She had a season high 23 digs against Westfield State, along with 21 against Colby-Sawyer, 19 against Rivier, 18 against New England College, and 13 against Plymouth State. Bunker now has 1,147 digs in her career, the 10th highest total in KSC history.
The Owls (8-0) are the last undefeated team in the Little East Conference, and will look to match their longest win streak since 2015 when they head to Trinity College (Conn.) on Thursday, September 14 at 7 p.m.
