WATERFORD, Conn.--The Keene State College men's and women's cross country teams competed on a cold and rainy morning at the Connecticut College Cross Country Invitational.
The women's team, comprised of three freshman girls, two juniors and one senior placed 20th overall in their first 6k race of the season. The Owls were led by junior Alana Olendorf who placed 125th with a time of 25:19. Freshman Christina Martin was close behind placing 135th with a finishing time of 25:33. The top five was rounded out by freshman Laura Dawson (25:53), Brittany Gravallese (26:14) and Emily Jarka (26:54). Freshman Mila Barrera was close behind Jarka running her first 6k in a time of 27:11.
Senior Phil Parent led the men's squad to an 11th place team finish running a time of 26:56 placing 67th. Placing 76th was freshman Cam Giordano with a time of 27:07. Senior Matt Dudley closed out his senior regular season with an excellent time of 27:09, just one second off his personal best. Seniors Ben Macdonald (27:36) and Ian Connell (27:37) rounded out the top fice placing 111th and 112th respectively.
Other Keene State runners competing were junior Tyler Dechane (28:34) and freshman Zach Coburn (30:33).
RPI won the men's team title and Middlebury took the women's team title. The Owls will be back in action on Satuday, October 28 at their home course for the Little East Conference Championship.
