PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Keene State College student-athletes Charles Molloy IV, Shane Molloy, Shannon Parks, and the men's 4x400 meter relay picked up LEC weekly honors, the conference office announced today.
Senior Charles Molloy IV (Guilford, Conn.) was named LEC Defensive Player of the Week on the strength of a 12 ground ball, seven caused turnover week for the Owls. Molloy IV picked up eight ground balls and had three caused turnovers in the 12-9 loss to nationally ranked Bates, before picking up four ground balls to go with four caused turnovers in the 19-5 conference opening win against UMass Boston.
Freshman Shane Molloy (Guilford, Conn.) was named LEC Rookie of the Week coming off a five goal, one assist week for KSC. Molloy finished with two goals in the 12-9 loss to Bates before adding a hat-trick and an assist in the LEC opener and 19-5 win against UMass Boston.
Women's Outdoor Track and Field
Freshman Shannon Parks (Reading, Mass.) was named LEC Rookie Field Athlete of the Week after her successful weekend at the Bridgewater State Invitational. Parks qualified for the New England Division III championships in the discus, with a throw of 34.08 meters, which was fifth overall, and was fifth in the shot put at exactly 11 meters.
Men's Outdoor Track and Field
The men's 4x400 meter relay was named LEC Men's Outdoor Track and Field Relay of the Week for their performance at the Bridgewater State Invitational. The team of Jared Hannon, Alex Medina, Anthony Jennings and Zach Coburn finished second with a time of 3:35.70.
