KEENE, N.H. - There are eight chances to catch four different Keene State College athletics teams at home as April kicks off with a busy week including several rescheduled contests.
The Owls are scheduled to have three home games at Owl Athletic Complex, first hosting conference opponent Castleton University on Tuesday, April 2 at 3:30 p.m. before welcoming non-conference foes Western New England University (Wednesday, April 3 at 3:30 p.m.) and Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) (Saturday, April 6 at 1:00 p.m.) to town. A visit to Tufts University awaits the following day, Sunday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. Three of the four games are out of Little East play, as KSC has already played five conference contests so far this season.
Softball plays a whopping eight games - four doubleheaders - this week, starting with one against Middlebury College at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2 that was moved to Keene due to field conditions and an earlier postponement. Two more non-conference twinbills await after that, first Western New England on Thursday, April 4 at 3:30 p.m., and then Westfield State University Friday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m. The former will be at home, while the latter is at Westfield, Mass. and a make-up of a March 28 postponement. KSC's LEC opener awaits on Sunday, April 7 when they visit Western Connecticut State University for a 12:00 p.m. start. Entering the week, the Owls and Rhode Island College are the only two teams to have not played a conference game yet.
The women's lacrosse team plays games three and four of a five-game homestand this week, beginning with a matchup against New England College on Tuesday, April 2 at 6:00 p.m. KSC gets back into league play with a game against Western Connecticut at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6. The Owls picked up a pair of wins in their first two home games last week, as they used a big fourth quarter to knock off Wheaton College (Mass.) 15-12 on March 27 and breezed past Rhode Island College 20-4 on March 30.
A pair of Little East Conference matchups are on tap for the Keene State men's lacrosse team. Eastern Connecticut State University will make the trip to Keene for a 5:00 p.m. matchup on Wednesday, April 3. The Owls then trek to Salem State University for a 1:00 p.m. start on Saturday, April 6. KSC is 2-0 in conference play, having beaten UMass Boston 19-5 on March 24 and UMass Dartmouth 19-10 on March 30, both games coming at home.
Outdoor Track and Field
The Owl outdoor track and field teams will head to Fitchburg, Mass. for the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invite on Saturday, April 6 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Both teams recently finished ninth in the Snowflake Invitational, which saw Lauren Perkowski qualify for the New England Division III Championships after winning the 5,000 meters and Angel Ramirez take the 200 meter dash. Joey Fodor's javelin throw was also 24th in the nation through the meet.
