KEENE, N.H. - The second full week of April is a busy one away from home for six Keene State College spring athletic teams, though there are three chances to catch the Owls at home.
The Owls play four games on the road this week, beginning with visits to Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday, April 9 at 3:30 p.m. and Springfield College on Thursday, April 11 at the same time. KSC then gets back into conference play with a visit to the University of Southern Maine for a doubleheader Saturday, April 13 beginning at 12:00 p.m. The Huskies are currently 6-1 in the conference and No. 3 in the most recent d3baseball.com Top 25 poll. Keene State, who enters the week off a 5-4 win over Johnson & Wales University (R.I.) on Saturday, will have gone 11 days between conference games entering the USM twinbill.
KSC, sitting at 4-0 in conference play, stays out on the road to make their first visit to Castleton University on Tuesday, April 9 at 7:00 p.m. The Owls and Spartans' one and only meeting all-time came in the first round of the 2010 NCAA tournament, a 21-7 victory for KSC at Owl Athletic Complex. Keene State then has their conference bye over the weekend.
Softball has a busy eight-game week, starting with Tuesday's (April 9) visit from Castleton for a Little East doubleheader at 3:30 p.m. KSC then goes to Middlebury College for a rescheduled doubleheader the next day at 3:30 p.m. and stays out on the road to visit UMass Boston at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 for two games. Another make-up is on tap for Sunday, April 14, when the Owls entertain Southern Maine for a DH that also begins at 1:00 p.m. Entering the week, Keene State is the only Little East team to have not played a conference game. Eastern Connecticut State University and UMass Dartmouth have both played eight.
Keene State wraps up a five-game homestand with a non-conference matchup against Westfield State University, April 10 at 6:00 p.m. before traveling to Gorham, Maine for an LEC matchup with Southern Maine on Saturday, April 13 at 12:00 p.m. It is one of five matchups between the Owl and Husky spring athletic teams next weekend.
Outdoor Track and Field
The women's and men's outdoor track and field teams will head to the multi-day Silfen Invitational in New London, Conn. on Friday (April 12) and Saturday (April 13). The event is hosted by Connecticut College.
