Three Keene State Student-Athletes Recognized By Little East Conference

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - Cross country took home three separate Little East Conference weekly awards, while volleyball's Olivia Mathieu was once again recognized when the Little East Conference released their weekly honors today.

Cross Country

Senior Lauren Perkowski (Plantsville, Conn.) was named women's cross country Runner of the Week after she dominated the field of 193 at the Keene State College Invitational last Saturday.  The senior took an early lead and ultimately covered the 5K course in 18:06.1, topping the second place finisher by nine seconds.  It is the third time Perkowski has picked up this recognition, as she also did so on September 2 and September 23.

Freshman Jacob Pearl (Orleans, Mass.) was named both the men's cross country Runner of the Week and Rookie of the Week after he finished fourth out of a 193-runner field on Saturday at the KSC Invitational.  Pearl was the fastest Little East finisher in the race, completing the 8K course in 26:17.9.  It is his second Little East Rookie of the Week, as he also captured the honor on September 2.

Volleyball

Senior Olivia Mathieu (Derry, N.H.) continues to rack up the Defensive Player of the Week awards, collecting her fourth of the season following a week that saw her surpass 1,000 career digs and move within 97 of moving into the top ten in that category in school history.  In the Owls' 3-0 week, Mathieu had 18 digs at Castleton on October 2 and followed it up with 24 and 29, respectively, in a tri-match with Western Connecticut State University and Westfield State on October 5.  KSC won both of those matches in straight sets and has won four straight to improve to 16-4 and 3-0 in conference play.
