KEENE, N.H. - Two basketball conference doubleheaders, one being at home, and a multi-day swimming and diving competition this week will conclude the pre-holiday break slate for the Keene State College athletic teams in 2019.
Coming off their first win of the season, the Owls will look to keep it going with a pair of Little East matchups in the upcoming week. KSC will visit Castleton University on Wednesday, December 4 for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off and then host UMass-Boston on Saturday (December 7) at 1:00 p.m. The Beacons have the top two scorers (by scoring average) in the league entering the week, with Jalani Jackson tallying 24.3 points per game and Joie Grassi 17.0.
Men's basketball will hope a road trip to Vermont turns things around, as KSC will take on Castleton on Wednesday (December 7) at 7:30 p.m. looking to snap a four-game losing streak. The Spartans have started the 2019-2020 campaign 1-4 on the heels of a 3-22 season last year. The Owls then take the court at Spaulding Gymnasium still looking for their first home win when they host UMass-Boston on Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m.
The Kurn Hattin Homes for Children Acapella Choir from Westminster, Vt., under the direction of Keene State alum Lisa Bianconi, will be performing at Saturday's basketball doubleheader. The group is well-known across the New England area and beyond, and some of their performances have included singing the national anthem twice in the past four years for Boston Red Sox games at Fenway Park, the Vermont State House for the Governor's inauguration and State Tree House lighting, and in Washington, D.C., New York City, and Philadelphia. They have also performed at several minor league and college games.
Swimming and Diving
Both swimming and diving teams will wrap up the semester by traveling to Cambridge, Mass. for the multi-day MIT Invitational that runs from Friday, December 6 through Sunday, December 8.
The Keene State College athletic department would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season! Weekly schedule updates will resume December 26.
