Ahlers, Thomas Honored by LEC

PROVIDENCE, R.I.—Two members of the Keene State College baseball team were honored in the final weekly awards from the Little East Conference today.

Sophomore outfielder Tommy Ahlers (Salem, N.H.) was named the LEC Co-Player of the Week.  In a 3-1 week for the Owls, Ahlers hit .563 (9-for-16) with a double, a triple, two home runs, and four RBI, with a .611 slugging percentage and an OPS of 1.125.  He had a multi-hit game in all four of the Owls' contests last week, including a 3-for-4 effort against Vermont State Castleton on April 30.   He was 2-for-4 with a triple in a 9-2 non-conference win over Worcester State University on May 1, and was a combined 4-for-8 as the Owls swept the regular season finale from Plymouth State University on May 3, clubbing a pair of homers in the opener as KSC clinched their first postseason appearance since 2017.

Freshman pitcher Camden Thomas (Ellington, Conn.) was named the LEC Pitcher of the Week.  Starting the second game of the doubleheader against Plymouth State, Thomas twirled a no-hitter for 5.2 innings, striking out 11 and throwing a mere 88 pitches in six total innings of work.

Ahlers, Thomas, and the rest of the Owls begin postseason play on Wednesday, May 8, when they face Eastern Connecticut State University in the opening round of the Little East Conference championship, hosted by the University of Massachusetts-Boston at Monan Park.  First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
