'KEENE, N.H. 04/04/05 - Four members of Keene State College's lacrosse teams were recipients of Little East Conference weekly honors, it was announced on Monday. In men's lacrosse, Eric Momnie was named offensive player of the week and Matt Johnson received defensive player of the week honors. Meanwhile, Owl women's lacrosse players Lauren Saunders and Christina Honeycutt earned offensive player and rookie of the week accolades respectively.
Momnie, a senior attackman from South Windsor, Conn., had 13 points on ten goals and three assists to lead the Owls to a 2-1 record last week. He tallied five goals and two assists in KSC's 13-5 LEC opening victory over UMass-Dartmouth on Sunday. Earlier in the week, Momnie netted two goals against regionally ranked Colby College.
Starting in all three of Keene State's games last week, Johnson, a freshman goalie from Derry, N.H., stopped a combined 14 shots. He gave up 16 goals for a 6.40 goals against average for the week.
A defenseman, Saunders also contributed offensively with nine points on eight goals and one assist to lead the Owls to a 2-0 week. The junior from Fremont, N.H. scored five goals in a 12-9 LEC victory over UMD on Saturday. She added three goals in a 15-10 win over Division II Franklin Pierce earlier in the week.
Honeycutt, a freshman midfielder from Weare, N.H., netted three goals in two games for KSC. She scored twice against UMD, and added a single goal in the game against the Ravens.
Both Keene State men's and women's lacrosse teams are off until Saturday. The Owl men will travel to UMass-Boston for a 1 p.m. game, while the KSC women will face Rhode Island College at Owl Athletic Complex (1 p.m.).
