'KEENE, N.H. 4/18/05 - Three members of Keene State's spring athletic teams were recognized by the Little East Conference on Monday. Meghan McLoughlin earned softball pitcher of the week honors while Eric Momnie and Matt Johnson received men's lacrosse offensive and defensive player of the week awards respectively.
In two appearances, both starts, McLoughlin compiled a 2-0 record. For the week, she pitched 21.0 innings, gave up eight hits and struck out 21 batters without giving up an earned run or a walk. In the first game of a double header versus Eastern Connecticut, McLoughlin, a senior from Brattleboro, Vt., tossed a complete-game shutout, giving up four hits and striking out nine batters. McLoughlin then threw all 12 innings of a 3-2 victory over Western Connecticut. She gave up two unearned runs on four hits while striking out 12 Colonials.
Momnie helped lead the Owls to a 2-0 record last week as he totaled nine points on seven goals and two assists. He scored three goals, including the game-winner, and added an assist in KSC's, 16-5, league victory over Plymouth State. Momnie, a senior attackman from South Windsor, Conn., then scored four times, with one assist and three ground balls in a 15-4 win over Western Connecticut.
Johnson started both of the Owls' games last week in goal. He gave up nine goals for a 4.67 goals against average for the week. The freshman goalie from Derry, N.H., stopped 25 shots total in the two contests, including 11 in the victory over Plymouth State and 14 in the win over Western Connecticut. Johnson also collected three ground balls and one caused turnover in the victory over the Colonials.
