Owls Finish First at Norwich University

'NORTHFIELD, VT. 11/12/03 - The Keene State College men's and women's swim teams defeated Norwich University in a dual meet on Wednesday at Norwich University. 


The men and women notched their first win of the season.  The Owl men are now 1-1 with their 112-79 victory.  The women are also 1-1 with the 113-55 victory.    


John West (West Hartford, Conn.), Chris Woolridge (Keene, N.H.), and Charlie Garrigan (Camden, Maine) each took first place in their respective events.  West swam to victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:37.70), Woolridge was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle (26:85), and Garrigan beat the field in the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.32).  


Cathy Sue Klein (Middlesex, N.J.) led the way for the Owl women with victories in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:40.05) and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.03).  Freshman standout Katlin Pryor (Jaffrey, N.H.) also made a name for herself with a pair of wins in the 500-yard freestyle (5:34.41) and the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.33).


The Keene State College swim team travels to Bentley College on Sunday (10 a.m.)
