• Jasinski to be inducted into Newport High Hall of Fame

    KEENE, N.H. 9/29/11 – Longtime Keene State College chemistry professor and former Owl assistant track coach Dr. Jerry Jasinski will be inducted into the Newport (N.H.) High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday. It’s the second year the school has held an induction ceremony.

    PHILADELPHIA, PA (7/5/11) - The La Salle University and Keene State College communities are mourning the sudden loss of head cross country and track coach, Charles Torpey, who passed away on Friday. Torpey, 58, won 16 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year honors, including 13 in cross country, led his teams to 15 Atlantic 10 Championships during his illustrious 17-year tenure at La Salle. He graduated from Keene State in 1981.

Leading the men, senior Bryan Kolacz (Brentwood, N.H.) broke the school record in the discus throw and won the hammer and for the women, junior Andrea Walsh (Bolton, Conn.) placed fourth in the 10,000 meter race and provisionally qualified for NCAA Championships.

The women’s team finished in second place with 122 points, while the men finished in fourth tallying 89 points.
