Lewis, Weinstock, and Daisy Collect LEC Weekly Honors

PAWTUCKET, R.I. - The trio of junior midfielder Chelsea Lewis, senior midfielder Tori Weinstock and freshman Ali Daisy of the Keene State women's lacrosse program was recognized for their efforts on the field last week, as the Owls were awarded Little East Conference (LEC) weekly honors, it was announced the league office today. 

From Londonderry, N.H., Lewis was named the LEC Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performances in two victories for Keene State, as the junior midfielder racked up 10 goals for the Owls. Against Castleton, Lewis converted three-of-four free position opportunities en route to four goals in a 16-5 win, before registering a game-high six goals to tie her season-high to lead the Keene State past Rhode Island 16-4 in the conference opener. Lewis leads all players in goals scored in the LEC with 32 and is second in points with 38. 

Weinstock earned the title of LEC Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Owls to a perfect 2-0 week with efforts on all sides of the field, as the senior tallied two goals, one assists, 19 draw controls, seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. In a win over Castleton, Weinstock picked up five ground balls and recorded eight draw controls with two caused turnovers. The senior midfielder from Brookfield, Conn. followed up that performance with a career-high 11 draw controls and added one goal, one assist, two ground balls and one caused turnover in a victory over RIC. Weinstock leads the LEC in draw controls with 47 and in caused turnovers with 17. 

Daisy was tabbed as the LEC Rookie of the Week after registering 10 points for Keene State as a key part of the Owls offense. In a victory over Castleton, Daisy fired off five goals on seven shots, before following up with another five-point game with four goals and one assist in the conference opener win over Rhode Island. A native of Raynham, Mass., Daisy currently ranks seventh overall in goals scored in the LEC with 21 and is second on the team.
