BRISTOL, R.I. 12/8/12 – Keene State College men's and women's team concluded their first semester schedule by defeating Roger Williams University in dual meets held in Bristol, R.I. on Saturday.
The nationally ranked Keene State women's team won all 14 swim events to defeat RWU 232-61, improving its dual meet mark to 4-1.
The KSC men's team (4-1) captured 13 of 14 races to beat the Hawks 207-71.
"Considering they were coming off a big meet and studying for finals, I was very happy the way they were able to race," said KSC Coach Jack Fabian.
Sophomore Diana Pimer (West Haven, Conn.) won three races to lead the KSC women. Pimer touched the wall first in the 100-yard breast (1:08.98), the 200 breast (2:29.09), and the 100 I.M. (1:03.41).
The Owls had three double-winners. Senior Kaila Umbarger (Chelmsford, Mass.) won the 50 free (24.52) and the 100 free (54.88), freshman Brianna Laliberte (Candia, N.H.) won the 100 back (1:02.76) and the 200 back (2:17.85), and sophomore Caitlyn Shea (Salem, N.H.) won the 100 fly (1:01.55) and the 200 fly (2:15.41).
Junior Stephanie Murray (Haverhill, Mass.) won the 1,000 free (11:07.32), sophomore Julie Trodden (Reading, Mass.) won the 200 free (1:58.97) and freshman Jennifer French (Nashua, N.H.) won the 500 free (5:24.83).
KSC prevailed in both relays. The team of sophomore Taylor DaSilva (Stony Brook, N.Y.), Shea, Pimer and Laliberte won the 400 medley relay (4:09.49) and Trodden, Murray, Laliberte and Umbarger joined together to win the 400 free relay (3:43.04).
Junior Drew Ledwith (Keene, N.H.) won three races to lead the KSC men's team. The three-time All-American swam to win in the 200 back (1:56.97), the 500 free (4:40.81) and the 1,000 free (9:23.28).
Junior Jared Hyde (Tolland, Conn.) and Cole Hogg (Manchester, N.H.) each won two races. Hyde placed first in the 50 free (21.91) and the 100 I.M. (54.72) while Hogg captured the 200 free (1:47.25) and the 200 fly (1:59.07).
Junior Randall Dunton (St. Cloud, Fla.) won the 100 back (54.16), senior Austin Harris (Essex Junction, Vt.) won the 100 free (47.98), senior Marc Marois (Derry, N.H.) won the 200 breast (2:19.61) and junior Dan Oliveira (Ludlow, Mass.) won the 100 fly (54.76).
In the relays, Junior James Black (Lynn, Mass.) and freshman Greg Youngstrom (West Hartford, Conn.) teamed with Dunton and Hyde to win the 400 medley relay (3:38.67) and the foursome of freshman Drew Krentsa (Brookfield, Conn.), Youngstom, Ledwith and Harris won the 400 free relay (3:17.11).
Junior Josh Tuller (Planview, N.Y.) won the one-meter diving event (236.05 points) and placed second on the three-meter board (226.05 points.)
Heading to Florida for its annual training trip, the Owls will compete in an invitational in Boca Raton on Thursday, Jan. 3.
