Volleyball Tabbed For Second In LEC Preseason Poll

PAWTUCKET, R.I.--By a razor-thin margin, the defending co-regular season champion Keene State College volleyball team was picked second in the Little East Conference volleyball preseason poll, it was announced today.

The Owls, who were 24-6 a year ago and reached the LEC title game for the seventh time, received 58 points and two first place votes, narrowly finishing behind three-time defending tournament champion UMass Boston, who received 61 points and six first place votes.  Eastern Connecticut State finished in third place with 48 points and the remaining first place vote.

Keene State graduated All-American Rachel Lamica, but returns 11 players, including senior Niamh Dodd (28 blocks, 55 block assists), senior, Second Team All-LEC, and 2017 LEC Defensive Player of the Year Riley Bunker (438 digs), junior Olivia Mathieu (192 kills), junior Kait West (251 digs), and sophomore All-LEC second teamer Bailey Wilson (937 assists).  KSC begins the season at the Cortland Red Dragon Classic, hosted by SUNY Cortland, on August 31.  The Owls will face the hosts and D'Youville College on the tournament's opening day, followed by Wells and SUNY Fredonia the day after.
