KEENE, N.H.--Lauren Perkowski, Lynne Hebert, and Jacob Pearl all turned in top-5 performances as the Keene State College cross country team began the 2019 season at the Early Bird Invitational at Owl Athletic Complex on Saturday.
Perkowski was second overall in 11:34.9 on the 2-mile course, with Hebert right behind in third in 12:01.2. Christina Martin was 15th overall in 12:35.4, followed by Mila Barrera in 28th in 12:55.4, and Hannah Jones in 33rd in 13:05.1. KSC's contingent also included Skyler Gauthier (35th, 13:10.5) and Chloe Page (37th, 13:12.7).
Emily Manfra of Suffolk was the individual winner in 11:03.2, while Springfield won the team race with 46 points.
The Owls were paced by Jacob Pearl, who marked his collegiate running debut by finishing fourth in the men's 5K in 16:20.2. Robby St. Laurent was in 13th place in 16:37.3, and Cam Giordano was 38th in 18:03.5. Dylan Richards (39th, 18:03.6) and Zach Coburn (50th, 18:50.0) completed KSC's scoring.
Matias Csiki-Fejer of Suffolk won the race in 15:49.2, while Springfield totalled up 60 points to win the team title.
The Owls are back in action September 7 at the Jim Sheehan Invitational in Leominster, Mass.
