'KEENE, N.H. 10/5/02 - Mark Miller (Sherburne Falls, MA.) and
Dave Bridgewater (Unionville, CT) raced to a first and third place
finishes respectively to lead the Keene State College men's cross
country team to a first place finish at the Eighth Annual KSC
Invitational in Keene on Saturday. It was the fourth straight KSC
championship for the Owls on their home course.
Mary Proulx (Ashland, N.H.) ran away from the field to claim the
women's individual title. The senior had a time of 17:46 on
the 3.1 mile course.
The KSC men had 35 points to outdistance Dartmouth College's "B"
team (53) points.
Miller, who posted his second straight Invitational title,
covered the five- mile course in a time of 25:45.
Bridgewater's time was 26:00.
Other top finishers for KSC included Dave Raymond (Princeton,
MA.) (6th/26:20), Josh Ferenc (Westmoreland, N.H.) (8th/26:24),
Matt Haley (Middleton, MA.), (17th/27:01).
The Dartmouth "B" team had 33 points to win the women's team
title. KSC was second with 46 points.
Beth Vachon (Amherst, N.H.), who later in the day competed for
the KSC soccer team, was the Owls' second place finisher (19:16).
Other KSC scorers included Stephanie Gibson (Sanbornton, N.H.)
(12th/19:44), Karen Jordan (Enfield, N.H.) (14th/20:00), and
Chepina Witkowski (Keene, N.H.) (16th/20:29).
