is a weekly show (or sometimes multiple per week!) that appears on all Keene State College athletics social media platforms every Friday when school is in session and is aimed to bring you the latest on all of the happenings in the Owl athletic department!
The Keene State College Department of Athletics and Recreation, in conjunction with the College's Department of Journalism, Multimedia, Public Relations (JMPR), began the newsmagazine program in September of 2017. Each show features highlights, interviews, and the latest coverage of KSC Athletics. IOA is the brainchild of JMPR faculty members Dr. Chad Nye and Dr. Mark Timney, and Assistant Athletic Director Abe Osheyack, a 2006 KSC graduate with a journalism degree. Noting the ever increasing trend toward video in coverage of Division III Athletics, and the emphasis on service learning as part of the College's strategic plan, the show was devised after months of planning in Spring and Summer 2017.
"The Journalism, Multimedia, Public Relations department faculty and students are excited to be a part of this new programming. This is an outstanding service learning opportunity for our students, and the content they create will help promote Owl Athletics and the college as a whole," said Nye. Added Timney, "We're very happy to be part of this project, not only because it's great for our journalism students, but because it's allowing parents to see these athletes in action."
"This is the next step in the ever-increasing coverage of KSC athletics," said Osheyack. "We hope that students, parents, alumni, and fans will enjoy the show!"
